A driver during a high-speed chase darted through the streets of Greenacres, drove the wrong way through traffic and even along sidewalks, police said.

John Henrice, 27, of Boynton Beach was arrested Thursday after investigators said a phone left in the car had his photo on the lock screen, according to a Greenacres police arrest report.

Two officers on patrol at 1:45 p.m. Thursday noticed the driver of a gold Chevy Malibu, later identified as Henrice, speeding down Jackson Ave- nue near First Street.

The officers followed the car to the 200 block of Jackson Avenue and watched a drug deal, according to the report.

The driver left the house, but when police tried to do a traffic stop, he sped up, going “well in excess” of the 25-mph limit, the report states.

The driver turned onto Lake Worth Road, going the wrong way along the one-way street and forcing other drivers to swerve out of the way, police said.

The fleeing driver then drove on the sidewalk near Haverhill Road to get past cars stopped at a red light. The driver and his passenger eventually ditched the car and ran away, according to the report.

Police searched the car and found a Samsung phone with a picture of a man resembling the driver on the phone’s lock screen. Officers interviewed the car’s owner, who reported the car stolen.

Family members later said the car owner’s son, Henrice, last had the car, according to the report.

After seeing Henrice’s driver’s license, an officer recognized him. Police tracked down Henrice, but he denied any involvement, according to the report.
