Gallardo’s run at 23 shutout innings

Another scoreless outing by Yovani Gallardo put an emphatic end to the Rangers’ longest losing streak of the season.

Gallardo extended his scoreless streak to a career-high 23 innings by pitching three-hit ball into the ninth Saturday, and the Rangers snapped a six-game skid with a 4-0 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Mitch Moreland, Robinson Chirinos and Rougned Odor hit solo home runs for the Rangers. Twins 5, Brewers 2: Torii Hunter hit two home runs, and Eduardo Escobar had a three-run shot to power the Twins. Giants 7, Rockies 5: Buster Posey drove in two runs, and Andrew Susac had a three-run double in the seventh to rally the Giants. Matt Duffy added three hits. Royals 3, Athletics 2: Chris Young bounced back from his worst start of the season to pitch six innings, giving up four hits and two runs. The Royals won for the fourth time in five games. Rays 4, Red Sox 1: Matt Andriese, who retired the first 11, and three relievers combined on a threehitte­r, and Jake Elmore hit a two-run homer to lift the Rays. Marlins 3, Dodgers 2: Tom Koehler pitched seven innings to outduel Clayton Kershaw, and Christian Yelich tied a career high with four hits. Yankees 9, Astros 6: Brian McCann’s grand slam in the first set the tone, and the Yankees also got homers from Chris Young and Chase Headley. Pirates 8, Braves 4: Starling Marte got three hits and scored three times as the Pirates handed the Braves their fifth straight loss. Angels 4, Mariners 2: Garrett Richards pitched into the eighth inning, and Kole Calhoun hit a two-run homer to lift the Angels. Cardinals 8, Cubs 1: Michael Wacha earned his 10th win, giving up one run in six solid innings. Diamondbac­ks at Padres: Andrew Cashner came in 1-6 with a 4.15 ERA in his eight starts at night this season. Reds at Mets: Curtis Granderson homered for the Mets before the game was suspended after six innings tied 1-1. The game will resume Sunday before the regularly scheduled series finale. Postponeme­nts: Rain washed out three games Saturday. The White Sox and Tigers will replay their game as part of a day-night doublehead­er Sept. 21. The Nationals and Phillies will play a doublehead­er Sunday, as will the Indians and Orioles.
