FORT LAUDERDALE — After dismissing Amaury Nunes late last week, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Tuesday named Caio Zanardi as the team’s new general manager.

The change in front-office personnel is just the latest in a series of shakeups for the club since late May, when Tim Robbie resigned as Strikers president. The team last week re-hired Günter Kronsteiner as coach, replacing Marcelo Neveleff, who resigned June 7 following the Strikers’ home loss to Indy Eleven.

Nunes, who remains under contract with the club, declined comment Tuesday.

The Strikers hired the for- mer Brazilian player to its GM post on Jan.13, when the team also tapped Andre Chaves as soccer director. Chaves was let go early last month, as was assistant coach Ricardo Lopes.

The Strikers also have lost four players in recent weeks, including Leo Moura on June 29, via release or trade.

Zanardi, most recently with Brazil’s national soccer federation, where he coached the Under-17 team, will oversee the Strikers’ soccer operations and the club’s planned youth academy program.

“We have a talented team and have expectations of competing for a playoff spot,” Strikers managing partner Ricardo Geromel said in a statement Tuesday. “Caio has experience running all facets of the tech- nical side of a soccer club. His hire represents the beginning of a new era, and his expertise will pay dividends on the pitch and help us reach our full potential.”

In March, Caio led Brazil’s U-17 team to a 16-1-5 record and the South American Football Championship, earning an automatic berth for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“While I was happy in Brazil, I couldn’t turn down this opportunity,” Zanardi said in a statement. “I believe in where the Strikers are going and I want to be a part of it.”

The team also announced Lopes will return to the Strikers’ bench under Kronsteiner. He will serve as goalkeepers coach.
