A man accused of driving the wrong-way on the highway and killing two Pompano Beach sisters was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

In all, Admerson Cleber Eugenio Vicente, 24, of Jupiter, faces six charges, among them two counts of DUI manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide and driving without a driver license. His bond was set at $3 million.

He’ll be booked into jail when he’s released from a Fort Pierce hospital, where police are guarding his room, the Florida Highway Patrol said Friday.

Meanwhile, a private funeral is planned for Brittany and Alexis Musumeci on Oct. 10. Members of the military are flying in for the service, family friends said Friday. Brittany, 23, was a violinist and Alexis, 24, a U.S. Air Force staff sergeant.

After visiting Disney World, the two sisters were returning to their mother’s home in Pompano Beach on Sept. 26 when their 2007 Toyota Matrix was struck head-on by a 2006 Jeep Cherokee in Martin County.

According to FHP, Vicente was behind the wheel of the Jeep, driving the wrong way. His vehicle came to rest on top of the hood of the girls’ car after

the fiery impact, according to an eyewitness.

Both sisters died at the scene. Vicente was critically injured and transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.

FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky said Vicente is expected to be released “fairly soon” and transferred to Martin County Jail. Although FHP is still waiting for blood test results to determine an exact impairment reading, he said “we know” that Vicente was driving under the influence.

Vicente wasn’t supposed to be behind the wheel of a car until 2020 because he was a “habitual traffic offender,” according to the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.

Records show that in March, Vicente’s license had been revoked for five years. He was charged with a DUI in 2010 and twice accused of driving with a suspended license in 2014.
