Security firm plans tech launch
ADT Security Services, the nation’s largest home security company, said it plans to launch its 24/7 security monitoring service this spring with LG’s Smart Security product.
The launch represents a new strategy by ADT that could address renters and the do-it-yourself security market. Dispatchers for ADT security will be linked to LG’s video storage and homeautomation technology.
CEO Naren Gursahaney said on a conference call Tuesday that ADT, based in Boca Raton, will continue to seek partnerships with other companies where it can add home security monitoring to their products.
“We’re looking at opportunities to automate but also enhance the experience of the customer,” he said.
ADT on Tuesday reported quarterly revenue of $900 million, an increase of 1.5 percent over the first quarter of fiscal 2015. Recurring revenue, which madeupabout93percent of total revenue in the quarter, was $833 million, up 1 percent compared with the same period last year.
The increases were
driv-
en by more sales of its ADT Pulse security-home automation product, ADT said.
Quarterly profits fell 11 percent to $64 million compared with $72 million in the first quarter a year ago. Lower earnings were due to a change in the way the company accounts for its dealer payments and a weaker Canadian dollar, the company said.
ADT closed the quarter with 6.6 million customer accounts.
In fiscal 2015, ADT posted revenue of $3.6 billion, up from $3.4 billion a year ago.
