Bail in Peeping Tom case adds up to $140,000
Bail was set at $140,000 for a suspected Peeping Tom accused of terrorizing at least five women in Pembroke Pines over a period of more than two years.
Pelayo Alexander Cerulia may be released as late as Thursday when he posts bond, his lawyer said Wednesday. Cerulia will be underhousearrest at hismother’s homeinMiami-DadeCounty, unable to work or to come within 500 feet of the victim in the most
serious case.
That woman told investigators that Cerulia tried to break into her home on July 18, urgingherto show him her breasts and bragging that hewould never be caught. His bond on multiple counts of aggravated stalking and firing a missile into a dwelling totaled $90,000, but the burglary with aggravated battery charge from the July 18 incident was punishable by life, and hewas held without bond on that charge since his arrest Dec. 31.
Cerulia turned himself after five women publicly shared frightening accounts of repeated encounters with a man who peered into their windows and masturbated, shattered windows with marbles slung from a slingshot and, in the July 18 incident, struggled to push a windowopen to get inside.
After two days of hearings last month, Broward Circuit Judge Andrew Siegel ruled that prosecutors did not have sufficient evidence to hold Cerulia prior to trial. He set bond for that count at $50,000.
Assistant State Attorney Kathleen Bogenschutz said an additional aggravated stalking charge was filed against Cerulia earlier thisweek, and prosecutors intend to file a new motion to detain Cerulia on the grounds that he’s a
