LAKE WORTH — Park Vista’s Carolynn Wotring and Kaylyn Bryant are soccer teammates, but they will be conference foes in college.

The duo was among nine athletes to sign their college letters during the school’s National Signing Day festivities Wednesday.

Wotring, who’s headed to FAU, and Bryant, who signed with Western Kentucky, helped the Cobras to the Class 5A regional final, where the team fell to Vero Beach.

“This is honestly the best feeling ever,” said Wotring, whowill compete against Bryant in Conference USA in college. “I couldn’t be happier with my decision.”

Sitting with Bryant, she looked to the end of the table and kidded Park Vista’s lone football player, linebacker Joshua Crutchfield, who signed with Florida A&M, that he was outnumbered.

Bryant said it was “amazing” to share the day with friends, family and her teammates.

“To share the spotlight on National Signing Day with the football players is really cool,” said Bryant, who is currently ranked 15th in her senior class of 710 students. Bryant said she plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Crutchfield, a linebacker/ end for a Cobras teamthat finished 5-5, has only played organized football for two seasons.

“It was crazy being up there with all of the girls,” Crutchfield said. “I expected to be up there with more boys, but they’ve got to get their paperwork in order.”

At St. Andrew’s on Wednesday, water polo player Tristan O’Connell signed to play at Wagner College in the fall.

O’Connell helped last season’s Scots win the district championship and reach the state final four, where they fell to the eventual state champion Belen Jesuit.

O’Connell set school records last season with 135 goals, 82 assists and 92 steals.

“I am really pumped about going to college and be able to play water polo,” said O’Connell, whose father, John O’Connell, is the assistant athletic director and basketball coach at the school.

St. Andrew’s lacrosse players Liza and Nick Diamond are headed to Stetson and Vassar College, respectively.

Another member of this set of lacrosse-playing triplets, David Diamond, signed with the University of Albany in November.

“It’s awesome,” Liza said.

“It’s exciting. Iwas really looking forward to it, and it is finally here.”
