AAA to offer free towing on Super Bowl weekend

- — Miriam Valverde

Auto club AAA says it will offer free towing this Super Bowl weekend to anyone who is unable to drive after one too many drinks.

AAA encourages those going out to bars or get-togethers to carpool with a designated driver, call a cab or stay at someone’s house if they are inebriated. If none of that is possible, AAA’s Tow to Go service will take you and your car home or somewhere else safe within10 miles.

The offer starts Friday and will continue until Super Bowl Sunday, when the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos face each other. The towing service will be available for AAA members and non-members.

“Super Bowl weekend can be an exciting time for fans of the game, fans of commercials, or just fans of the show itself. But that doesn’t mean you can play a game with your safety or the safety of others,” said Amy Stracke, managing director of traffic safety advocacy for AAA and executive director of Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation.

Tow to Go started in 1998 and since then has removed 24,000 impaired drivers from roads across the southeast, AAA said.

To request Tow to Go, call 855-286-9246.
