Two-for-one deals abound during summer

- Sally Deneen

An upside of South Florida’s sweltering summers is that today marks the return of two-for-one summertime deals at certain attractions and businesses such as Cinema Paradiso, Butterfly World, Jungle Queen riverboat cruises, Gulfstream Park and a Fort Lauderdale one-day scuba-diving class that normally charges $175 per person.

What you need to do to obtain the deals: Get a free “Summer Savings” coupon card mailed to you by calling 954-765-4466 or skip that step and simply present the two-for-one card via your smartphone (find it at http://bit.ly/ cardsave). Alternatively, print a coupon card via http://bit.ly/2sunny. Or print it via sunny.org, where you’ll click on “LauderDeals,” then “2-for-1summer offers.” Afull rundown of deals is at sunny.org.

You can use the coupon card at several establishments through Sept. 30 to get, for examples, two-forone tickets atCinema Paradiso’s twomovie theaters (saving $10) or for a champagne sunset cruise throughTropical Sailing catamaran charters (normally $53). Elsewhere, the deal applies at Bonnet HouseMuseum& Gardens, saving $20 on adult admission. It alsoworks at several places that normally charge adults at least $10 including NSUArtMuseum, Museumof Discovery and Science, StranahanHouse Museum andDavie’s Flamingo Gardens.

Among the biggest discounts is a scuba diving class at Sea Experience in Fort Lauderdale, where two people can take a “Discover Scuba Diving” class for the price of one ($175 savings). Some deals come with restrictions, so read the fine print. If you have questions, call the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention& Visitors Bureau at 954-765-4466.

Reader tip: Reader Sarina of Broward says she happily received goodnews when she called Delta Airlines: It has dropped its $25 fee to book flights by calling 800-455-2720. It’s nowfree to do it through aDelta agent, either by phone or at the airport (where the fee had been $35). Sarina expresses relief that nowshe can stop searching for flights at Delta.com, which she finds less user-friendly than American Airlines’ website, and “avoidwasting priceless time online.” (While Delta dropped the fee, don’t expect others to follow, says the LosAngeles Times.) For a rundown of current airline fees, see Airfarewatchdog.com’s list at http://bit.ly/feefly.
