MIAMI— The Heat have received a better read on the potential pool for the June 22NBA draft, with the league releasing the list of this year’s early-entry candidates.

The deadline for declaring was Sunday, with theNBA then issuing the list at midweek.

Players can withdraw from the draft by notifying the league byMay 12, but the more significant day for withdrawal isMay 24, the deadline to retain collegiate eligibility, provided the players did not sign with an agent in the interim.

In all, 182 early-entry candidates applied for the 2017 draft: 137 collegiate players and international prospects.

In order to be eligible, a player must be one year removed from his final scholastic season or be turning 19 years old.

Unlike these final hours before the NFL draft, the Heat have plenty of time for a more measured approach.

The next key day on the draft schedule is the May 9-14 draft combine in Chicago, followed by theMay 16 draft lottery.

TheHeat are seededNo. 14 in the draft lottery, with a 0.5 percent chance of securing theNo.1 pick and a 98.2 percent chance of drafting atNo. 14.

Heat President Pat Riley likened the Heat position to being in “purgatory.”
