Work to close express lanes on northbound I-95 into Broward
The express lanes on northbound Interstate 95 intoBrowardCountywillbe closing through the weekend for constructionwork.
The Florida Department of Transportation will be changing the layout of the express lane exit near GriffinRoad.
It will include resurfacing the roadway, installing new pavement and overhead signage and markings for the new merge location, and the removal of all express lane markers from Stirling Road north to State Road 84.
Entry points at IvesDairy RoadandtheGoldenGlades Interchange to northbound I-95 express lanes will be closed during the modifications.
One regular lane on I-95 from south of Stirling Road to State Road 84 will also undergo a full closure for constructionwork.
The express lanes will be closed from 10:30 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday and then closed continuously from9p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
When construction is done, express lane traffic will still be able to access Griffin Road, I-595 and all destinations north.
The Florida Highway Patrol will be on scene to direct and help motorists while overhead Dynamic Message Signs advise drivers of the closures.
To avoid the anticipated traffic congestion from the continuous lane closures during this weekend, motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes for northbound I-95, between the Golden Glades Interchange and the I-595 Interchange including Florida’s Turnpike, State Road 7/U.S. 441, andU.S. 1.
