Lessons to learn from an awful ’13

History often repeats itself because fewwere paying attention the first time.

Heading into the NFL draft tonight, the last thing theMiami Dolphins can afford to do is repeat the mistakes made in the 2013 Draft, which will be long be considered one of the franchise’sworst.

That draft class, led by first-round pick Dion Jordan, was supposed to help a Jeff Ireland-built team pivot fromaverag­e to playoff contender. But all that 2013 class didwas create heartburn, and get the Dolphins’ general manager fired.

Not one player is left fromthat 2013 draft haul. Jordan, theNo. 3 overall pick whose careerwas stalled by multiple suspension­s for drug use, was the last man standing before beingwaive­d this month.

Nine players, nine draft picks, all flushed down the drain after four years.

All but one— third-round cornerback WillDavis— are on another NFL roster.

Cornerback Jamar Taylor, a secondroun­d pick in 2013, is a starter for the Browns. The Dolphins traded him to Cleveland after he consistent­ly demanded his release last spring.

Tailback Mike Gillislee, who lost his roster spot toDamienWi­lliams three summers ago, has rebounded quite nicely and is positioned to become the Patriots’ starting tailback after they signed him away from Buffalo.

Caleb Sturgis, who lost a camp battle to Andrew Franks two years ago, nowkicks for the Eagles. Linebacker Jelani Jenkins is
