On Aug. 7 the Sun Sentinel addressed the Senate confirmation of Ambassador Sharon Day to the beautiful Central American country of Costa Rica.

For those who have met and/or worked with Sharon, they know her to be a truly dedicated and outstanding activist not only concerned about the Party of Lincoln, but also this great country, her state, county of Broward, and the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale.

Many of us who reside in Southeast Florida knew that her access door was always open as were her eyes and ears when a need arose within the trenches of her grassroots family. Her energy was boundless, but most importantly you knew that you had someone not only to work with and speak to, but you recognized her as a tirelessly involved woman who would listen when it came to your concerns. There always seemed to be a sense of responsible access and a willingness to understand.

Carrying those same traits and work ethic forward to Ambassador Day’s new post will prove a plus not only for the citizens, residents, and the many guests visiting Costa Rica, but the United States, too. SunSentinel.com/ opinion/letters

On April 6, the Sun Sentinel quoted city officials who stated they won’t raise taxes to pay for the increase. Instead, they’ll use some money from surplus, borrow more money and cut the budget in other places.

Residents want to know, how can we now trust the city not to raise additional taxes for this relocation?
