Two people lose lives in crashes on I-95, I-75

people are dead after separate crashes in Broward County early Sunday, including one in which a car burst into flames on Interstate 95, authoritie­s said.

The second fatality occurred when a 2007 Nissan Altima plunged into a retention pond after missing the curve at the entrance ramp to Interstate 75 from Miramar Parkway in Miramar at 2:45 a.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky.

Three people were able to get out of the water without serious injury, Wysocky said. They were identified as Stephany Morel, 19, of Hialeah; Nicole Vigniero, 19, of North Miami Beach, and Victor Guzman, 17, of Miami.

The body of a man killed was found at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in about 10 feet of water, Wysocky said. He was identified as Robert Andrade, 22, of Opa-Locka.

Police are still investigat­ing who was driving the car.

Minutes before the crash, a Miramar police officer spotted a suspicious car with its lights off at a bus loop near Southwest 186th Avenue and Miramar Parkway, according to spokeswoma­n Tania Rues.

As the officer, driving a marked patrol car, approached the car, “the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, driving erraticall­y and heading eastbound on Miramar Parkway,” Rues said.
