Siemian, defense key Broncos’ win

- Associated Press

Trevor Siemian tied a career high with four touchdown passes and the Broncos held Ezekiel Elliott to the worst game of his career — 8 yards on nine carries — in a 42-17 blowout of the Cowboys on Sunday in a game that included an hourlong lightning delay.

Aqib Talib’s 103-yard interception return for a touchdown with 53 seconds left was the final indignity for the visiting Cowboys (1-1), who watched Von Miller end a career-long five-game streak without a sack by dumping Dak Prescott twice.

Elliott, who’s playing while he’s appealing a six-game ban, had averaged 108 yards rushing per game and more than 5 yards a carry in his career.

C.J. Anderson ran for 118 yards and a score and also caught a touchdown pass for the Broncos. Dolphins 19, Chargers 17: Cody Parkey made a 54-yard FG with 1:05 to play to cap the Dolphins’ rally and spoil the Chargers’ first game in Los Angeles. Jay Cutler threw for 230 yards and a TD and Jay Ajayi ran for 122 in the victory. Patriots 36, Saints 20: Tom Brady was 30 of 39 for 447 yards and three TDs to help the Pats rebound from their season-opening loss. TE Rob Gronkowski hauled in six catches for 116 yards with a TD. Redskins 27, Rams 20: Kirk Cousins gave the Redskins the win with an 11-yard TD pass to Ryan Grant with 1:49 remaining. Buccaneers 29, Bears 7: Jameis Winston threw for 204 yards and a TD and the Bucs defense forced four turnovers in the win. Raiders 45, Jets 20: Derek Carr threw three TD passes to Michael Crabtree, and Oakland native Marshawn Lynch scored in his first home game with the Raiders, who are 2-0 for the first time since their AFC championship season in 2002. Steelers 26, Vikings 9: Ben Roethlisberger threw for two TDs and Le’Veon Bell ran for 87 yards as the Steelers improved to 10-1 in home openers under Mike Tomlin. Titans 37, Jaguars 16: Derrick Henry ran for a career-high 92 yards and had a TD and Delanie Walker and Jalston Fowler each added rushing scores for the Titans. Ravens 24, Browns 10: The Ravens defense picked off four passes and forced a fumble and Joe Flacco threw two TD passes in the win. Chiefs 27, Eagles 20: Travis Kelce scored the game-winning TD with 6:25 left and finished with 103 receiving yards. Kareem Hunt had 81 rushing yards and two TDs. Panthers 9, Bills 3: The Panthers defense allowed only three points for the second straight week, and Graham Gano made three FGs in the win. The Bills finished with just 10 first downs. Cardinals 16, Colts 13: Tyrann Mathieu’s INT in OT set up Phil Dawson for a 30-yard FG to cap the comeback for the Cardinals, who didn’t lead until the final play. Seahawks 12, 49ers 9: Russell Wilson found Paul Richardson for a TD with 7:06 left. It was the Seahawks’ first TD of the season. The 49ers still are without a TD. Packers at Falcons: The Packers returned to Atlanta, where they lost in last year’s NFC title game.
