TALLAHASSEE — Florida State wide receiver Auden Tate and linebacker Matthew Thomas are day-to-day dealing with injuries suffered during the team’s loss to NC State last week. Tate, FSU’s leading receiver with 11 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns, suffered a left shoulder injury after hauling in a career-long 51-yard reception from new quarterback James Blackman in the third quarter of the 27-21 defeat.

Thomas, FSU’s leading tackler a season ago, injured back in the first quarter, and was ruled out by halftime.

“It’s nothing that will be season-ending, week-ending,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said of both players on Monday. “They’ll just be day-to-day. We’ll see how they feel, and how they come out of this. We’ll see after they have treatments.”

Tate and Thomas are key starters for the Seminoles, who have begun this season at 0-2 for the first time since 1989.

Two days after NC State DE Bradley Chubb apologized for spitting midfield in Doak Campbell Stadium following the game, Fisher says the episode could have been avoided if the Seminoles didn’t lose the game.

“Hey, [if ] we win the game and we don’t let him do Fisher said of the situation. “That’s our fault.”

Sophomore linebacker Dontavious Jackson, who played in 12 of 13 games last season, has been passed on the depth chart by Emmert Rice and Adonis Thomas.

Fisher said Jackson’s early-season left knee injury opened the door for the other players.
