A mother grateful for an act of kindness Read more online
Amid all the crime and hatred, there are still good people out there. My 18-year-old daughter, along with three friends, were in a horriific automobile accident in the early morning of Sept. 21, on Sample Road in Coral Springs. My daughter was asleep in the back seat and did not regain consciousness until after her CT scan at the trauma center at Broward Health North.
It was there that a police officer told me when first responders arrived at the accident scene, the car was already on fire. An unidentified witness told police my daughter was the last one out, and that a responder had pulled her out just before car burst into flames. I am hoping he sees this and contacts the Coral Springs police department so we can thank him properly. He saved our daughter’s life and we will forever be grateful for this very unselfish act of kindness. SunSentinel.com/opinion/ letters
The United States is a country in which the privilege to voice our opinions is our right, and the freedom to disagree with some of those opinions is also our right. The NFL protests have created controversial debates on whether they’re moral or reprehensible.
From the perspective of a veteran or family who’s lost a loved one to war, these protests can be seen as an act of impudence and ridicule toward these soldiers and their actions. But from the point of view of the protesters, it can be seen as the only way to bring consciousness to how the current society of the U.S has afflicted them and their families.
You do not need to agree with these protests, but as a citizen of the U.S., we must understand and respect both sides. next, because he owned slaves. Although it is reprehensible that our founding fathers owned slaves, we commemorate them because of their other achievements, in spite of their failings.
Remembering the failings of our former leaders and putting them in an historical context is one of the ways that we learn from history.
