Executives in new leadership positions highlight this week’s People on the Move column. Tourism
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau announced that Gonzalo
Rubio has joined the tourism sales team as the new domestic sales associate. Previously, Rubio held sales positions with Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, and Walt Disney World Swan Resort.
Lindsay Fast has been appointed tourism director for the Town of Surfside in Miami-Dade County. Fast was previously trade marketing manager for Club Med USA. She was also office and accounts manager at Monaco Media International in Monte Carlo, senior account executive at Hunter Hamersmith Advertising Agency in North Miami, and consumer advertising account executive at Celebrity Cruises.
Leadership
Daniel Gibson, regional vice president, Allegany Franciscan Ministries, is one of 40 participants working across a range of fields, including social policy, community development, public health and government, selected to participate in the Culture of Health Leaders program. It is co-led by the National Collaborative for Health Equity and CommonHealth ACTION with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Gibson will develop high-level leadership skills through professional coaching, mentoring, networking, and an advanced leadership curriculum. While in the program, he will continue full time in his workplace and community, building upon his work in Overtown Miami, where he oversees Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ Common Good Initiative. The program works with local groups and residents to make the community healthier, safer and more connected. Leadership Florida has named Sarah Alsofrom as chair of the Regional Council for the Gulfstream Region that includes Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Alsofrom is director of community relations for GL Homes.
Education
Nicole Edwards was named director of community partnerships at Prime Time Palm Beach County, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of after-school programs in the county and increasing access to youth development opportunities. For the past eight years, Edwards has worked for the organization as the professional development manager.

Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate announced that Pablo Torres has become an affiliated sales associate with the company’s Brickell-Key Biscayne office.
Shelby G. Smith III recently joined Berger Commercial Realty/CORFAC International as a senior property manager. Smith was previously president of the property management division at The Fitzgerald Group. First Industrial Realty Trust Inc., owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate, announced that Chris Willson has been named senior regional director/market leader for its Florida region. Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate announced that Maria Galka has become a sales associate with its Boca Resort and Beach office. Formerly with Champagne and Parisi Real Estate, Galka specializes in residential property sales.
Transportation
David Helfman has joined the express intercity passenger rail service, Brightline, as vice president of corporate partnerships. Helfman was most recently Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Miami Dolphins.

Broward Health announced the addition of
Samantha Gardner as vice president of Managed Care and Onel Rodriguez as chief financial officer for Broward Health Coral
Springs, and the promotion of Alexander M. Fernandez to vice president of financial operations.
William U. Daley, a nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, has received a 2017 DAISY Award for the respect and empathy he has for patients and their families. Daley was presented with the award at a special ceremony in the CV-ICU. Patients, family members, nurses, physicians and employees may nominate extraordinary nurses for the DAISY Award throughout the year. More than 1,900 health care facilities in all 50 states and 14 countries honor nurses with DAISY Awards. Dr. Vivek Narendra Patel, a radiation oncologist, has joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multispecialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians, at the Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center at Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, Dr. Daniel
Gomez joined Holy Cross Medical Group as a gynecologist and obstetrician.
Amy Pulido, MD, has been appointed chief of Memorial Regional Hospital’s Department of Anesthesiology, in charge of daily operations, budget and personnel for the 60-plus member department, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Memorial is a flagship hospital for Envision Physician Services, a national provider for anesthesiology, neonatology, radiology and emergency services. Dr. Pulido joined the hospital practice in 2010 and has held the role of vice chief since 2015. Since 2013, she has worked as the medical director of preadmission testing.
Nonprofit
Robert Taylor Jr. has been named the new chairman of the board at Habitat for Humanity of Broward, replacing Bill Feinberg who completed a two-year tenure in August. Taylor is president and chief executive officer of BBI, the family-owned national sales agency headquartered in Fort Lauderdale.
