Three teens stalked woman, 81, stole car

Three teens, looking no older than 15 to 18, stalked their 81-year-old victim, following her into a Lauderdale Lakes Wal-Mart and back out into the parking lot, a police report said.

There they split up. Two of the boys flanked the woman Monday evening while the third boy approached her from the front, pointed a gun at her and demanded her keys, the report said.

“I was at the car door and suddenly from nowhere come like kids, maybe 16 or not even,” Albina Curik said.

Thinking the youngster was joking, Curik asked him to repeat his demand. Instead he snatched her car keys from her hand, she said.

“I’m still trying to compose myself,” Curik said Thursday. “It was scary and shocking.”

The trio hopped into Curik’s 2015 Toyota Corolla and sped away, she said.

“The three robbers fled so abruptly that they nearly struck [Curik] with the car as they pulled out of the parking space,” said Gina Carter, a spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Curik’s car was found later the same day about 2 miles from the Wal-Mart at 3001 N. SR 7, Curik said.

According to security video, all three teens wore blue-knit caps, slide-on sandals with socks and athletic attire.

Investigators urge anyone with information about the young robbers to contact Detective Armando Enrique at 954-321-4229. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
