LHP Jarlin Garcia (0-0, 1.13, 0.69) vs. RHP Masahiro Tanaka (2-1, 5.19, 1.04): It will be tough for Garcia to top his first career start after he held the Mets without a hit for six innings at Marlins Park. He will be dealing with chilly weather, a designated hitter and a hostile environment this time. But he has been the Marlins’ most effective pitcher, allowing only two runs and five hits in 16 innings through three outings, including two long relief appearances . ... The Yankees altered their plans for the series after getting rained out Sunday, with Tanaka pushed back a day. He has given up four homers in 17 1/3 innings, including a grand slam to Boston’s J.D.
