Police: Guard admits to 10 sexual attacks

Wanted for two sexually motivated attacks, Dante Collins confessed to 10 and told police he knew he had a problem, according to an arrest report.

Collins, 25, was arrested early Sunday morning, nearly two weeks after Coral Springs police released a sketch of a “dangerous suspect” and warned women in Wyndham Lakes in the northwestern party of the city to beware of an early morning attacker.

Collins worked as a security guard in a nearby industrial park at 4050 NW 126th Ave., the report said. His hours coincided with the attacks.

Jailed on $250,000 bond, Collins is being held in the Broward Main Jail.

Coral Springs police In January and February stopped Collins multiple times for suspicious behavior, his arrest report said.

Police were looking for an attacker who struck Feb. 24 and April 9.

Collins confessed to both, and then some. He told police he had attempted to jump between five and 10 women in the Wyndham Lakes area. When pressed to be more specific, Collins rounded up, saying it was “closer to 10.”

A 60-year-old woman was knocked to the ground when she was attacked Feb. 24, a report said.

And when a 49-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground at 5:35 a.m. on April 9, the attacker tried to pull off her running clothes. She managed to kick and fight him off until he ran away, according to six months probation. the report.

When Collins admitted to having a problem, he also apologized, saying he was “deeply sorry for what I have done,” the report said.

He acted in a similar manner when he was targeting women in Hollywood, records show.

In February 2014, Hollywood police received numerous complaints of a man in a silver car who was exposing himself to women in the North and South Lake neighborhoods.

Upon his arrest that time, Collins told police he was a sex addict and admitted exposing himself between five and 10 times in Hollywood and Hallandale Beach, records show.

Collins said he had been engaging in such behavior since his December 2013 discharge from the military, court records show.
