Team to unveil 25th anniversary logo
The Florida Panthers will begin the celebration of their 25th season as a franchise Friday by unveiling a commemorative logo, followed by a happy hour in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The logo will be revealed on Twitter and Facebook during the day, and participating Himmarshee Village restaurants will offer discounted drinks and food from 4-8 p.m. The Panthers are also giving out prizes at the celebration, including four tickets to the home opener and a $100 bar tab.
Merchandise featuring the 25th anniversary logo will be available for purchase.
This change comes only two years after the Panthers last switched their logo. That change was from a snarling, leaping panther to a more majestic, thoughtful-looking panther in a shield-shaped logo. It was met with mixed reviews.
There haven’t really been any hints as to what the 25th anniversary logo will look like, but there is a past reference point. In 2013, the Panthers celebrated their 20th anniversary as a franchise by adding two Xs behind the aggressive, leaping panther, signifying the Roman numeral for 20.
Will the Panthers just add a V to that design? Will it be something completely different? Will they just use the hockey stick and palm tree alternate logo more prominently? Probably not that last one.
No matter what the Panthers decide to go with, though, fans can still walk away happy. Even if the logo leaves something to be desired, at least the drinks are cheaper.
