A Fort Lauderdale man may have vital information in the killing of South Florida rapper XXXTentacion, and authorities want the public’s help to find him.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified Robert Allen, 22, as a person of interest in the case. He was seen in a surveillance image from RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, where XXXTentacion was shopping before he was shot dead on June 18.

The rapper’s black BMW i8 was blocked by an SUV as he was leaving the motorcycle dealer’s parking lot at Northeast 37th Street, just west of North Dixie Highway.

Two gunmen — one in a black mask, the other wearing a red mask — jumped out of the SUV, struggled with XXXTentacion, whose given name is Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy. He was shot multiple times during the ambush. A small bag was stolen from his BMW before the gunmen fled, according to an

arrest report.

Also Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office said the 2017 Dodge Journey SUV used in the attack was recovered. Detectives would not say if any of the men named in the investigation knew each other before the gunfire began.

The Sheriff’s Office has so far arrested one person in the killing.

Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, of Pompano Beach, is accused of being the driver of the SUV that afternoon. He was arrested June 20 and faces a premeditated-murder charge, though detectives don’t believe he fired a gun during the killing and are looking for other suspects.

Both Williams and Allen have criminal records, court records show.

Allen was placed on probation until Sept. 30, 2021, after pleading no contest to 10 counts of fraudulent use of personal identification, the records show.

For the offenses of carrying a concealed firearm he served a year probation, and for drug possession, he’s on community supervision until October, state records show.

When Williams was arrested, he was serving five years of probation set to end in 2021 after being convicted as a youthful offender of grand theft auto.

Williams was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and battery in a domestic-violence case in May 2014, but the state attorney’s office declined to prosecute, court records show.

In December 2016, he was arrested in Coconut Creek on suspicion of possessing a firearm, but he was not prosecuted that time either.

Last November, Williams was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and possessing a weapon while being a convicted felon. Online court records do not indicate the status of that case.

In the current investigation, detectives investigated Williams’ social media posts, and said he wore bright-orange sandals similar to those worn by a man in surveillance images from the motorcycle dealership, according to court documents.

Witnesses identified Williams as being at the business at the same time as Onfroy, investigators said.
