Dead woman had dreams of modeling, acting career
On a job-seeking website where actors, artists and musicians list their skills and talents, Jennifer Salcito wrote that she is an aspiring model and actress and “an amazing singer.”
But whatever dreams Salcito had were dashed by death.
The woman’s body that was found partially concealed in the brush of a community garden has been identified as that of Salcito, 33, according to Delray Beach police.
Investigators are treating Salcito’s death as a homicide and don’t know who is responsible.
Authorities were called Tuesday to the Frog Alley Community Garden, 250 SW Fourth Ave., after a resident noticed “the odor of decomposition,” said police spokeswoman Dani Moschella. The resident Salcito called
code enforcement personnel who, in turn, notified police.
Detectives think Salcito had been dead for a least a few days before her body was found.
At the online site ExploreTalent.com, Salcito displayed several photographs. “I want to be the next big STAR,” she wrote adding that, “I love to be in front of the camera and the camera loves me!”
Police are circulating information about Salcito in the hopes of finding out “who she was with or what she was doing in the past week,” investigators wrote in a posting on the Delray Beach Police Department’s Facebook page.
Near the scene where her body was found, residents told Sun Sentinel news partner WPEC-CBS12 that Salcito was often seen in the area wearing the same clothes and seemed to be homeless.
Delray Beach police ask anyone with information about Salcito to contact Detective Michael Shiner at 561-243-7828 or by email at Shiner@mydelraybeach.com.
