FORT LAUDERDALE — Fort Lauderdale-based Citrix Systems saw a 7 percent increase in revenue to $742 million, up from $693 million in the second quarter in 2017, the global software company said Wednesday.

But net income fell to $107 million, or 73 cents a share, compared with $109 million, or 70 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago. The results for the 2018 and 2017 quarters include restructuring charges of $7 million and $2 million, respectively, primarily for office closing costs, Citrix said.

CEO David Henshall said the company’s results show Citrix customers and partners “are embracing our cloud strategy.” Citrix has been moving its services to the cloud in a reorganization effort that began before Henshall was named CEO in July 2017.

Citrix employs more than 1,700 people in South Florida. None of the office consolidations were in Fort Lauderdale but layoffs were “across most functions,” according to Stacy St. Louis,

spokeswoman for Citrix.

Founded in 1989, Citrix is one of South Florida’s largest technology companies. In 2013, Citrix renovated its Fort Lauderdale offices, making a $7.5 million investment, and promised more than 200 jobs in return for $1.65 million in potential state and local incentives.

Citrix stock closed Wednesday at $109.24, up $1.64 cents or 1.52 percent a share in Nasdaq trading.
