■ Mets: OF Yoenis Cespedes will undergo surgery to remove calcificat­ion in both heels and is expected to miss at least eight to 10 months. The injuries are not considered career-threatenin­g. Cespedes said he had hoped to put off surgery until retirement, but “I cannot think that way anymore.” ... Rookie Corey Oswalt got his first MLB win, pitching three-hit ball over five innings to beat the Padres 6-4.

■ Mariners: Jean Segura singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth and the Mariners improved to 27-12 in one-run games by beating the Giants 3-2. Edwin Diaz struck out the side in the ninth for his league-best 38th save in 41 chances.

■ Indians: Trevor Bauer struck out 10 in seven innings and Brad Hand got his first save for the Indians, who ended the Pirates’ winning streak at 11 with a 4-0 victory. Bauer reached double figures in strikeouts for the ninth time this season as he gave up two hits and two walks. Edwin Encarnacio­n and Yonder Alonso drove in two runs each. The Pirates hadn’t lost since July 10.

■ Rays: Sergio Romo relieved in the eighth, shifted to third base when Jonny Venters replaced him in the ninth, then struck out Brett Gardner to end the game with two on, preserving a 3-2 victory over the Yankees. The Rays have won six of their last seven against the Yankees.

■ Nationals: Bryce Harper homered and Tanner Roark pitched eight shutout innings in a 7-3 win over the Brewers. Roark (4-12), the NL leader in losses, allowed three hits, struck out a seasonhigh 11 and walked one. Anthony Rendon went 0-for-4, ending a career-high hitting streak at 12.

■ Phillies: Scott Kingery and Rhys Hoskins homered and Carlos Santana delivered a three-run triple to key a 7-3 victory over the Dodgers. Jake Arrieta allowed two runs on five hits in six innings . ... The Phils will start a lefty Thursday for the first time since Sept. 28, 2016, ending a streak of 267 straight starts by a righty, when Ranger Suarez debuts against the Reds.
