Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill shrugged it off as if it weren’t a big deal.
He took his first sack of the preseason in Saturday’s 27-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was the first time he had taken a big hit since returning from the knee surgery that kept him out all last season.
“It wasn’t too bad,” Tannehill said. “Physically, I was fine.”
That is good news for the Dolphins because it appears Tannehill has regained comfort on the field after sustaining two major knee injuries the last two seasons that caused him to miss 20 games.
He didn’t place any blame of the sack on the offensive line, which has performed well despite two new starters. They had kept him protected until Saturday’s mishap.
“It means I didn’t get a ball out,” Tannehill said of the sack.
“I didn’t get a first down. That’s purely what I was focused on was just getting that first down and [they] did a good job taking away one and two, [I] tried to get the three [read] and just couldn’t get the ball off. We have to find a way to make those conversions.”
The Dolphins are 0-3 heading into the final preseason game Thursday at Atlanta. Still, Tannehill said he’s seen improvement on offense.
But they continue to have issues on third down, which puts pressure on the defense.
