The Buzz: Tulane, which reached bowl eligibility with a onepoint win over AAC foe Navy in its regular-season finale, will be making its first bowl appearance since the 2013 New Orleans Bowl. Sun Belt Conference runner-up Louisiana, meanwhile, bounced back from an early-season skid that includes losses to Alabama and Mississippi State.
BOCA RATON BOWL
Matchup: UAB (10-3) vs. Northern Illinois (8-5)
Location: Howard Schnellenberger Field at FAU Stadium, Boca Raton
Date: Dec. 18 Time: 7 p.m. TV: ESPN
The Buzz: UAB already has turned in a season to remember by winning the Conference USA championship in just its second year back after the program was shut down in 2014. NIU, which will be making its 10th bowl appearance in the past 11 seasons, rallied from 19 down to beat Buffalo in the MAC title game.
GASPARILLA BOWL
Matchup: Marshall (8-4) vs. USF (7-5)
Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
Date: Dec. 20 Time: 8 p.m. TV: ESPN
The Buzz: USF, making its fourth straight bowl appearance, will try to build some momentum for 2019 as it looks to end a five-game losing streak that soured what was a promising start. The Bulls have been outscored 198-101 during their skid. Marshall’s somewhat up-and-down regular season culminated in a 41-20 loss to Virginia Tech.

The Buzz: West Virginia was still in the playoff semifinal picture before a pivotal 45-41 loss to Oklahoma State knocked the Mountaineers down before their showdown with Oklahoma. Still, they feature a prolific offense behind former UF quarterback Will Grier. Syracuse made big strides from last year’s 4-8 campaign and gave Clemson all it could handle before losing 27-23.
GATOR BOWL
Matchup: No. 19 Texas A&M (8-4) vs. NC State (9-3) Location: TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville

The Buzz: Jimbo Fisher’s Aggies were sitting at 5-4 before reeling off wins in their final three games, including an epic 74-72 victory against LSU that took seven overtimes. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, have quietly put together another solid season under Dave Doeren as they try to reach the 10-win mark for the first time since Chuck Amato’s 2002 squad went 11-3 — and won the Gator Bowl. playing in Orlando’s Camping World Bowl.
