Teachers need respect, not guns

Can you please ask [Sarah Leonardi] to run for school board, I promise I will vote for her! A very clear, well thought out and well reasoned opinion.

I totally agree with it; schools have been getting the short end of the stick on funding at least since I moved here 30 years ago. It was a disgrace then and it’s a tragedy now.

Teachers are one of our most valuable resources, yet we treat them like dirt. They should not have to carry guns to defend schools and children, they should be able to do their jobs that they went to school for and dedicated their lives to.

It’s one of the noblest professions in our country, and we do not give them the respect they deserve. Julie Goldich, Parkland
