Substitute teachers deserve more money
My husband substitutes every day for the Broward County School Board. He is highly sought after by teachers and schools, and the kids love him.
Almost every day, he hears complaints from substitute coordinators and teachers about how hard it is to get reliable substitutes. Often, substitutes take jobs and don’t show up. This hurts the students because classes have to be split up and added to already full classes when there’s no sub. One reason for the shortage, I’m sure, is that Broward has not given substitutes a raise in more than 10 years. They make less than $15 an hour. Palm Beach County recently gave their substitutes a raise, and they were making more than Broward substitutes to begin with.
Principals and office managers in Broward need to petition the School Board to raise the pay of substitutes, just as the teachers finally got a well-deserved raise.

Blackface? Blame Hollywood
Strange how no media outlet is bringing up the movies made in Hollywood during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The nauseating movies then told young white males to act as stupid as they could to get attention. “Animal House,” “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” and many others were made and shown to audiences across the country.
I never saw a movie with a white male with a painted face, but the whole idea of these movies was a shock. I do not like the Virginia governor, but this happened 30 years ago.

Republican politicians dividing nation
In regards to the letter “Democratic politicians dividing nation,” the president of the Judeo/Christian Republican Club needs to get his facts straight.
Yes, Rep. Maxine Waters did call some Republicans “scumbags” but she was referring to the current Cabinet in office. He failed to mention President Trump’s tweet describing Waters as “an extraordinarily low IQ person.” In Ilhan Omar’s tweet, it stated “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” Nowhere in her tweet does she mention harm to Israel as stated in your letter.
You state the Democrats are dividing this country based on their comments; yet the Republicans make the same type of comments, which means they are dividing this country, too.
For example Ron Desantis stated “…that voters should not “monkey this up” by electing his opponent…” or Donald Trump calling respectful people in this country names (i.e. Pocahontas, lying Ted, etc.).
One could say that both parties are dividing this country, not just the Democrats.

Not fair to Trump
Your article, “Four trips to Mar-a-Lago,” shows your liberal bias as usual. You write Trump’s trips cost $13.6 million vs. Obama’s trips costing $3.6 million. What you failed to emphasize was that Trump’s trips were for a period of 33 days vs Obama’s were over a 3 day period. Hardly a fair comparison.
