- By Ben Crandell South Florida Sun Sentinel

Funkmaster George Clinton will bring his farewell tour with Parliament-Funkadelic to the One Nation Under a Groove Block Party at Revolution Live in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 31.

Ticket sales begin with a limited number of $30 early-bird tickets available 10 a.m. Tuesday-10 p.m. Wednesday at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-7745-3000. Tickets also will be available without fees at the Revolution Live box office, 100 SW Third Ave. Visit JoinTheRevolution.com.

Standard advance tickets will cost $45 and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the same outlets. Tickets will cost $55 at the gate.

VIP admission to the show, which includes early access, entry to the craftcocktail hideaway Stache and a private viewing area, costs $95.

The all-ages block party will take place in the street outside Revolution Live and the adjacent America’s Backyard, and include craft vendors and food and drink from Stache and Green Bar and Kitchen.

Other acts on the bill include Fishbone, the Main Squeeze and Miss Velvet and the Blue Wolf.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in February, Clinton said the time is right to depart the Mothership of funk.

“I would love to keep on doing this but I’ll be 78 in a few more months [July],” Clinton said. “Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going. We’ve got a new vibe in the band, and they’ve been carrying it for the last three years. I’ve been up there representing for people, but they’ve actually been turning the place out.”
