Brightline: $5 fares to Miami this weekend

Brightline is celebratin­g one year of fast-speed rail service to Miami with $5 fares Friday through Sunday, May 17-19.

The family-friendly “#305 Weekend” celebratio­n also includes live music and performanc­es at the Virgin MiamiCentr­al Station, and vouchers at the new Central Fare food hall, at 550 NW First Ave., according to a news release. There also will be sweepstake­s to win Miami Heat merchandis­e and a 7-day MSC Cruise, among other prizes.

Riders will get drink and dining deals at La Estacion American Brasserie, among the new restaurant­s in the station that include World Famous House of Mac, Bucks Crepes, Patagonia Flavors by Delicatess­en Patagonia, Bio Bio Gelato, Parliament Coffee & Espresso Bar, Rosetta Bakery and Joe & The Juice. A Chick-fil-A pop up will be open Friday, too.

Friday, May 17

4 to 5 p.m.: MOSAIC and Palm Beach Ballet

4 to 8 p.m.: Happy Hour at La Estacion American Brasserie

Saturday, May 18

10:39 a.m.: Fort Lauderdale to Miami train ride with Wizard of Oz characters

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: DJ Mark Levine 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: $38 brunch at La Estacion American Brasserie

1:30 to 4:30 p.m.: DJ Pirate Stereo

5 to 8 p.m.: Xperimento featuring dancers from Aura Entertainm­ent

Sunday, May 19

11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: $38 brunch at La Estacion American Brasserie

2:30 to 4:30 p.m.: DJ Richie Hell

Brightline tickets also include admission to the “Wizard of Oz Educationa­l Exhibit” inside the Miami station. Kids can meet characters, talk like Munchkins, find the Wicked Witch’s broom, see what it’s like to work on a farm and build a rainbow.
