Brightline: $5 fares to Miami this weekend

Brightline is celebrating one year of fast-speed rail service to Miami with $5 fares Friday through Sunday, May 17-19.

The family-friendly “#305 Weekend” celebration also includes live music and performances at the Virgin MiamiCentral Station, and vouchers at the new Central Fare food hall, at 550 NW First Ave., according to a news release. There also will be sweepstakes to win Miami Heat merchandise and a 7-day MSC Cruise, among other prizes.

Riders will get drink and dining deals at La Estacion American Brasserie, among the new restaurants in the station that include World Famous House of Mac, Bucks Crepes, Patagonia Flavors by Delicatessen Patagonia, Bio Bio Gelato, Parliament Coffee & Espresso Bar, Rosetta Bakery and Joe & The Juice. A Chick-fil-A pop up will be open Friday, too.

Friday, May 17

4 to 5 p.m.: MOSAIC and Palm Beach Ballet

Saturday, May 18

Brightline tickets also include admission to the “Wizard of Oz Educational Exhibit” inside the Miami station. Kids can meet characters, talk like Munchkins, find the Wicked Witch’s broom, see what it’s like to work on a farm and build a rainbow.
