Sen. Scott’s prescripti­on drug plan may work

I have several issues with Sal J. Nuzzo’s op-ed.

TV advertisin­g adds a significan­t cost to the drug. I have heard between 25-40%. The only other country that allows TV advertisin­g of pharmaceut­icals is New Zealand.

No company is forced to sell their drugs for less than they cost. They make some profit.

Too many new drugs are “me too” items. As a retired pharmacist, I have experience­d that phenomenon too many times to count.

Perhaps that is why foreign countries only allow one drug of each class. I have not been a fan of Rick Scott as senator, but this plan can change my mind.
