An accused killer who was mistakenly released from the Broward County Jail more than 40 days ago has been captured in Georgia, the Broward Sheriff ’s Office said Wednesday night.

Eric Vail walked out of the jail on May 30 after the Broward Clerk of Courts had failed to produce a routine document telling the jail to keep him there.

The 28-year-old Miami man had been arrested in January and charged with the October shooting death of Wadarius Harris, 27, in Pembroke Park.

Investigators said Vail riddled a car Harris was in with an AR-15-style rifle.

Vail was arrested Wednesday evening in Jesup, Ga., the sheriff ’s office said. He was found at a mobile home there.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has a plan to talk about the environment with Florida voters: Address the problems you see, not the causes you don’t.

It’s been a winning strategy for Republicans in Florida for over a decade. The basic tactic is to address specific, pressing policy challenges facing Florida communities — algal blooms, coastal flooding, threats to the Everglades — without discussing the climatic forces driving change.

But environmental politics in Florida have shifted since Trump’s first run for the presidency in 2016, when his skepticism over the extent and causes of climate change proved immaterial in his path to electoral victory there.

sup, Veda Colemjan-Wright, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

“Vail resisted at first and barricaded himself inside the mobile home,” she said. “After about three hours, he was taken into custody.”

Vail will likely be extradited to Broward County to face one count of first-degree murder. The investigation continues.

Blame for Vail’s release has been hard to place as the Broward Clerk of Courts, jail and prosecutors all have blamed someone else.

Prosecutors dropped a second-degree murder charge against Vail in the shooting after a grand jury indicted him for first-degree murder for the same crime.
