The Evolution of Today’s Modern Kitchen

- SPECIAL TO HOME IMPROVEMENT

The modern-day kitchen is constantly being re-conceptualized adapting to emerging lifestyles, reflecting new household compositions and homeowner needs, and evolving with the times. That’s been the case for years, and it’s clearly the case these days.

Proof of this fast-paced, ongoing transformation can be found in a compelling new study that points to many of the ways that today’s kitchens far transcend the traditional role they’ve played as the centerpiece of the American home.

The study reveals that a considerable number of homeowners are spending more time than ever in their kitchens, with a growing number engaged in an array of activities beyond cooking, eating and cleanup. They’re more and more involved in several kitchen activities simultaneously multi-tasking, often without even realizing it, for extended periods of time.

The favorite “non-traditional” activities taking place in today’s kitchens include listening to music, watching TV/streaming video, caring for pets, paying bills, reading (both digitally and in print), playing games and doing schoolwork. These kitchen activities, the study noted, are above and beyond the longstanding trend of simply gathering and socializing with family and friends.

Today’s kitchens are doing far more than before and with the technology that is evolving so fast, this trend will continue making the kitchen a “social experience” far away from its past independent living space concept , into a multipurpose hub for cooking, eating and a superb place to unwind and de-stress from the daily routine.

In a number of areas, that game plan is already being implemented. A growing number of kitchens are occupying larger, more open footprints. Additional seating capacity is being added. “Smart” features are being built into cabinetry, appliances, countertops and other kitchen components. Hardware, lighting and other products are addressing the growing demand for Wireless connectivity, docking stations for electronic devices as well as smart speakers, tablets, laptops, phones and other technology-driven needs. There’s also an increased focus on specific zones beyond the traditional work triangle: dedicated pet-care centers, laundry rooms and personal work spaces, as well as specialized storage considerations for a growing number of new-age accessories like pantry appliances.

The new challenges will continue to push the designers to think outside the standard to continue improving and evolving this important part of our home, unleashing the ultimate living experience through design, materials, hardware and technology to make our life simpler. This integration is so much more than connecting kitchen cabinets to an area.

At Yogui International our team of designers will work with you to design your next project and create a space that works for your lifestyle.

During 1920 our grandfather Romulo Sagnotti established in Italy the roots of Yogui International. Future ideas from almost 100 years of experience… we have asserted that only the best will do. Every kitchen should be as unique as its owner.

Our design foundation is built on architectural elements such as smooth surfaces, cubic shapes, neutral palette, and open floor plans. remodeling from refacing cabinets to complete projects, for which there continues to be a strong demand.

The company has four kitchen designers on staff who haveworked on hundreds of projects in the area. “They havemore than 15 years of experience in South Florida, giving us an edge over our competitors,” Sagnotti says. “There are no unique or unusual situations that we haven’t come across.”

Trends are moving away from complex styles toward a cleaner look, and customers are looking for fresh, simple designs.

“The trend toward less ornate products is a fact,” he says. “Simple, contemporary and rustic designs with clean and bold lines are popular among customers. The desire for hand-detailed ornamentation stillmakes a classic, refined statement, which we are also seeing on a variety of finishes.

“We have to keep in mind that our clients are doingmore research before making a purchase decision,” Sagnotti says. “They are looking for a particular look at amore accessible price. [They are] using safe designs because of the economic issues, thinking in terms of whatwill happen if they need to sell.”

That’s one reason Yogui International offers refacing of existing cabinets, which provides an affordable design without sacrificing look or quality.

Because of the popularity of European cabinets, handles and styles, Yogui International has started bringing in a furniture line from Italy and Spain. Its top-quality products include bedroom sets, dining room sets, sectionals and sleepers.

The main idea, Sagnotti says, is to give the client a huge selection of products that will contribute on the improvement of their homes, making spaces more updated and comfortable, with quality products accessible to almost every budget.
