Father and son founders are opening this fourth location of their Broward County mini chain around mid-December in the former Pizza Moda.

“We’re excited to share the new direction,” says Jess Louis, partner with his father, Russel. “Our vision for this restaurant is a more contemporary gastropub concept, which patrons will see through our progressive design both indoors and outdoors. One major change will be the use of our expanded outdoor terrace area, which will have a mix of high tops and tables.

“Additionally, our menu will also change in that we will be scaling it down to focus on perfecting our signature dishes that our clientele has grown to love and elevating those items to create a memorable dining experience.”

Some of those New American gastropub signatures include the Buffalo chicken dip ($9.99), brie and bacon burger ($13.99), Havana sandwich ($13.99), prosciutto and brie melt ($13.99) and fish and chips ($13.99).

“When we started Legends 10 years ago, I was only 21 years old,” Jess Louis says, referring to the original Sunrise location. “We’ve certainly come a long way in terms of elevating our menus, identifying trends within the industry and the way people like to dine. For example, we have added more vegetarian-friendly dishes and are exploring vegan options, too.”

One of those is a plantbased entrée made with pea protein and shaped like chicken wings ($13.99 for 10; $25.99 for 20). Other

Legends Tavern and Grille offers cereal-crusted chicken atop a house-made Belgian waffle with whipped cream, applewood-smoked bacon, maple syrup and sriracha drizzle.

new items debuting with the opening are pepperoni pizza wonton rolls ($10.99), barbecue shrimp with Cajun lemon butter sauce ($11.99) and Tuscan chicken

cutlet sandwich ($13.99).

In addition to a dozen draft beers, cocktail highlights include the cucumber cooler with gin, elderflower liqueur and

lime juice ($8) and a blood-orange old fashioned ($9).

“We feel it is an exciting time for Pompano Beach in terms of how much it has progressed with new, small businesses and restaurant openings,” Louis says. “The city is very up-and-coming. We are always evaluating the tri-county area to see where we can expand. As of now, the Palm Beach area is of interest, particularly Lake Worth, Boynton, Jupiter and Wellington.”

But for now, the focus is on their Pompano addition, which features a neutral color palette and alfresco seating on a large, covered patio. Neutral colors can also be found on the paved front walkway, which is accented by umbrellas and bistro lights.

“The restaurant is close to a busy marina, so there will be some artwork that will pay homage to the yachting community,“he says. “A major element will be the garage door that will give access to the indooroutdoor bar area.”

Daily lunch and dinner will be served, as will weekend brunch.
