New jersey reveal includes a swoosh

SAN DIEGO — The Miami Marlins will have a slightly new look in 2020.

While the changes won’t be nearly as drastic as last season, when the franchise re-branded its logo and uniforms, the team will be sporting the iconic Nike swoosh next season.

As part of MLB’s new 10-year partnership with Nike, the apparel company will be the exclusive uniform provider for all 30 MLB teams.

On Monday, Nike released promotional images of every team’s new white jerseys. On Miami’s uniforms, the Nike swoosh is emblazoned on the upper right corner, directly above the M in Marlins.

Last season, the Marlins completely overhauled their uniforms, changing their colors to Caliente Red, Miami Blue, Midnight Black and Slate Gray as part of an initiative by the new ownership group to start a new chapter in South Florida.

No prime time for Marlins: ESPN released the first half its Sunday Night Baseball

schedule for 2020, and the Marlins won’t have any prime time appearances during the first half of season. With Miami coming off a 57-105 season and struggling to generate local TV ratings, schedule-makers clearly looked elsewhere to fill spots.

In unsurprising fashion, the New York Yankees and Boston Reds Sox highlight the schedule with five games each. The Chicago Cubs lead the National League with four Sunday night contests.

In the NL East, the New York Mets will make three appearances, while the Atlanta Braves will be on once. In a surprising move, the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals were held out of the first half lineup.

While the Marlins haven’t played on Sunday Night Baseball recently, they were showcased on MLB Network for their July 4th road contest versus the Washington Nationals. Their most recent national television appearance at Marlins Park came in 2018 when the team hosted the Atlanta Braves on Fox Sports 1.
