The Sharks fired coach Peter DeBoer on Wednesday, according to reports.

The 51-year-old DeBoer was fired a day after the Sharks’ 3-1 road loss to the Predators.

The Sharks are 0-4-1 in their last five games and 15-16-2 overall. They face the Rangers on Thursday.

DeBoer was 198-129-4 in parts of five seasons with the Sharks, leading the team to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season in 2015-16. He also has coached the Devils and Panthers.

Lapointe has cancer: The Canadiens announced that Hall of Fame defenseman Guy Lapointe was diagnosed with oral cancer.

Lapointe, 71, who currently works as an amateur scout for the Wild, will begin treatment in the coming weeks. The cancer is located at the base of his tongue.

This form has a high cure rate, the Canadiens said in the statement.

Lapointe won six Stanley Cups in the 1970s with the Canadiens and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.

Caps win showdown: T.J. Oshie scored twice in under four minutes and John Carlson got the goahead goal to extend the Capitals’ longstanding domination of the visiting Bruins with a 3-2 victory in a showdown between the league’s two best teams.

The Capitals have won 16 of their last 17 games against the Bruins.
