Led by a major Atlanta Falcons fan, the Zac Brown Band is no stranger to football. The Atlanta-based group recently performed an updated version of its signature hit “Chicken Fried” as a musical lead-in for the NFL’s Thanksgiving night game between the Falcons and rival New Orleans Saints.
In the decade since winning the Grammy Award for best new artist, the ZBB has evolved into a one of the most popular live acts in any genre. The band just performed at Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach two months ago on the tour supporting “The Owl,” an album of daring eclecticism, with help from EDM artist Skrillex and pop singer Shawn Mendes.
The country-flavored Southern rock of the Zac Brown Band — think “Toes,” “Knee Deep,” “Homegrown” and, of course, “Chicken Fried” — was a missing element in the Super Bowl 2020 music lineup.
Among the previously announced acts playing in the days before the game are Lady Gaga, Cardi B, the Chainsmokers, DJ Khaled, Guns N’ Roses, Maroon 5, Pitbull and Tiesto, Diplo and Kaskade.
