Giuliani: Dems ‘trying to destroy the Constitution’

Trump’s lawyer talks to gathering of young conservatives in South Florida

Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, told thousands of conservative students in West Palm Beach on Thursday night that Democrats are “trying to destroy the Constitution” by impeaching President Donald Trump.

During a speech at the Turning Point USA Student Summit, Giuliani said, “This coup and this impeachment is about … taking our Constitution and tearing it up.”

Giuliani is a key player in the events that led to Trump’s impeachment.

In interviews ahead of the historic impeachment vote, he admitted that he worked to oust former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and provided the president with information allegedly showing that she impeded investigations that could have benefited Trump politically.

Giuliani’s business dealings with two Soviet-born businessmen have drawn scrutiny from federal prosecutors. But the former New York City mayor and federal prosecutor said he’s being subjected to a politically motivated attack by the criminal justice system

and the media.

“I assure you I have never committed a crime,” Giuliani said. “I have been a prosecutor all my life. You can go read about the people I put in prison. … I am being investigated by the office that I ran and probably was the most successful United States attorney in the last hundred years. They are very jealous of that. I dare you to find anything I did.”

Giuliani said he does legitimate security consulting work in Ukraine.

“They said I had vast investments in Ukraine,” he told the crowd. “I said, ‘If you find them, I’ll split them with you.’”

Two of Giuliani’s business associates are facing federal campaign finance charges. Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, Soviet-born businessmen who live in South Florida, were arrested Oct. 9 at an airport outside Washington while trying to board a flight to Europe with one-way tickets.

Parnas and Fruman are accused of funneling foreign cash into U.S. elections. They’ve pleaded not guilty.

Giuliani said the focus should be on Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, who served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.

Giuliani recently traveled to Kyiv, Budapest and Vienna to gather additional evidence he claims bolsters theories that Biden intervened in Ukraine’s affairs to help his son.

Founded in 2012 by 26-year-old Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA has a presence on 1,500 campuses, according to the organization’s website.

Kirk has emerged as an influential voice on the right, amassing 1.4 million Twitter followers and making regular appearances on Fox News. He started the conference by blasting the media and slamming the “radical left” and “ruling class elites” for trying to take down the president.

“The left is doing everything they can to remove this president,” Kirk said. “Why? Because they don’t just hate him. They hate you. He’s just in the way. They hate everything this country stands for.”

Trump is scheduled to address the conference on Saturday. He is expected to spend the holidays at his nearby Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
