CoreLife Eatery opens in Boca

- By Lois K. Solomon

BOCA RATON How about a side of bone broth with your power bowl?

CoreLife Eatery, set to open Friday in West Boca, is offering beef and chicken bone broth, said to heal joints and reduce inflammation, as part of its antibiotic-free, grass-fed, cagefree menu options.

The new fast-casual restaurant, at 8170 Glades Road, is the chain’s first in Florida, although a second opening is scheduled in Royal Palm Beach in July. The first CoreLife opened in Syracuse, N.Y., in 2015, and there are now more than 50 in 12 states.

There are no waiters or waitresses at CoreLife. Visitors walk through a line and design their bowls as they proceed along the counter. Menu items include vegetable bowls, grain bowls, and bowls with broth as the base.

Some studies have shown bone broth heals the digestive system and helps with immunity to colds and bronchitis.

Also on the menu: Southwest Pulled Chicken, Spicy Thai Chicken, Korean Pulled Pork, Buffalo Chicken, Fire Ahi Tuna Poke, Greek Chicken, and Steak Fajita.

CoreLife recently got a top rating from Consumer Reports, which reviewed 17 chains at the beginning of antibiotic-free the pandemic as people began bringing take-out food home more often. Its dishes got excellent or very good ratings for the nutritional content of drinks, grains and fruits and vegetables, and healthy amounts of salt and saturated fat.

Some other chains with local outlets did not rate as highly, including True Food Kitchen, Freshii, Chipotle, Panera and Cheesecake Factory.
