NBA bubble scores perfect zero in testing

No new COVID-19 cases since July 13 announcement

Even amid their routine as shut-ins, the Miami Heat and the rest of the league took solace Monday in the NBA pitching a shutout when it comes to COVID-19 testing in the league’s Disney World quarantine “bubble” settings.

Prior to the Heat’s evening practice, the NBA and players’ association announced, “Of the 346 players tested for COVID-19 on the NBA campus since test results were last announced on July 13, zero have returned confirmed positive tests.”

The Heat, however, continue to work in the absences of Bam Adebayo and Kendrick Nunn, with the team declining to comment due to privacy statutes.

Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. previously allowed it to be known that he had tested positive for coronavirus before the

Heat’s departure to Disney. Jones traveled with the team to Central Florida on July 8 and has been working in team sessions since.

The Heat and the rest of the NBA remain quarantined from those outside the league, limited in their areas of access at Disney.

For the fourth time in as many practices, the Heat worked the late shift at Disney, in advance of Wednesday night’s scrimmage opener at the Wide World of Sports complex against the Sacramento Kings.

The Heat will play three such scrimmages before resuming regular-season play Aug. 1 against the Denver Nuggets, with all games the balance of the season to be played in the absence of fans.
