Sun Sentinel Broward Edition

Let’s unpack this a bit

Great job, Pete

Referring to the Republican attorneys who wanted to monitor the signature verification process at the Broward Supervisor of Elections office, [Supervisor of Elections] Pete Antonacci is quoted in a Sun Sentinel article as saying,”They wanted to come in and goon over it.” [“Trump Republicans ask to double-check Broward ballot signatures,” Oct. 16] Thank goodness Antonacci is not afraid to tell it like it is. Antonacci is a Republican appointed by a Republican governor but, at least so far, the manner in which he has carried out his responsibilities reflects a commitment to get it right for Broward voters and avoid the three ring circus for which we are regrettably famous.

Carroll Billups,

An idea on insurance

I want to thank Angelo Castillo for his comments in today’s South Florida 100 [“South Florida 100: Get ready, South Florida, because early voting is coming,” Oct. 16] about homeowners insurance in Florida. For several years, I have been suggesting to friends and family that the state of Florida should insist that insurance companies that sell auto insurance in the state have to also make homeowners insurance available too, otherwise they will not be allowed to sell insurance in the state. Now if our state legislators would get on board with this idea, things might improve for Florida homeowners!

Ted Bazer,

About this nonsense of packing the court. The nine justices of the court work as one entity. Any issues coming to the court are deliberated as a group, whether they agree or not, and a decision is made by the majority. These nine justices are the most knowledgeable legal minds we are assumed to have. Can you imagine having the democrats pack the court to the 15 members being proposed, with multiple points of view and a majority disagreeing on our country’s Constitution as our guiding principal? No fair rulings would be the result, their votes based on political bias, not as our Founding Fathers intended. One more step towards socialism.
