Obama will host drive-in car rally for Biden

- By AnthonyMan

Former President Barack Obama’s first Florida campaign appearance on behalf of Joe Biden will be drive-in rally on Saturday.

Obama’s appearance on behalf of his former vice president comes on the first weekend day of early voting. The drive-in car rally is planned for North Miami, but the campaign hasn’ t provided additional details and hasn’t said what else the former president is doing during his South Florida campaign swing.

Biden’s campaign has been using drive-in rallies in battleground states around the country as away to gather supporters and get attention while keeping people socially distant during the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden held a drive-up rally at Miramar Regional Park on Oct. 13, where some of the dozens of cars were decked out in elaborate messages of support.

Obama’s first day of campaigning for Bid en, on Wednesday in Philadelphia, included a drive-in rally. O ba ma, who is highly popular among Democrats, delivered a withering takedown of his successor in the White House.

“I never thought Donald Trump would embrace my vision or continue my policies, but I did hope for the sake of the country that he might show some interest in taking the job seriously,” Obama said during one of the Philadelphia stops, adding that Trump “wants full credit for the economy he inherited and no blame for the pandemic he ignored.”

Florida, like Pennsylvania, isa large battle ground state that could go either way in the presidential election. Florida awards 29 of the 270 votes needed to win the presidency, and polling shows Biden and President Donald Trump are exceedingly close.

The Biden campaign said the former president will urge Florida voters “to make aplan to vote early.” Mail voting has been going on for weeks in Florida, and in person early voting began Monday almost everywhere in the state, including all of South Florida on Monday. The rest of the state begins early voting on Saturday. In most places it runs through Nov .1, the Sunday before Election Day.
