3 games canceled due to COVID-19

Two Broward County football games and one Palm Beach County game scheduled for thisweek have been canceled due to COVID-19.

Flanagan at Miramar and Hollywood Hills at South Broward were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, Broward County Public Schools spokeswoma­n Cathy Brennan said. In Palm Beach County,

Olympic Heights vs. John I. Leonard was canceled, according to Palm Beach County School District spokeswoma­n Julie Houston Trieste. At least 17 Broward County public-school games and five Palm BeachCount­y public-school games have been canceled due to COVID.

Miramar, Hollywood Hills and John I. Leonard are the teams with COVID-19 issues, according to Brennan and Houston Tries te.

Both districts scheduled new games for the teams still able to play. Flanagan will play at South Broward at 7 p.m. on Friday, and Olympic Heights will play Wellington at 6 p.m. on Friday. Wellington was originally scheduled to play Palm Beach Central this week, but the Broncos’ remaining regular-season games were canceled on Nov. 13. Sixteen players and four coaches at Palm Beach Central have tested positive for the virus, according to Alex Shaw, a spokesman for the county department of health.

Three other games were moved to a different time, date or location.

Plantation vs. South Plantation was moved from Friday to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Fort Lauderdale vs. St ran a han was moved from 7 p.m. Friday to 4p.m. Saturday, andit will be played at Northeast instead of at Lockhart Field. The Soul Bowl between Blanche E ly and Dillard moved from 7p.m. Saturday at Lockhart Field to 6 p.m. Saturday at Dillard.
