Oddsmakers: Jets favored to land Watson from Texans
The New York Jets have emerged as the frontrunner to land disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, according to Vegas oddsmakers. The latest line on where Watson will ultimately land after trade rumors have been swirling for weeks has the Jets with a slight edge over the Miami Dolphins to obtain the Pro Bowl quarterback’s services.
According to oddsmakers at BetMGM, the teams given the best odds of trading for Watson, who wants out of Houston as his relationship with the organization has been fractured in recent weeks, are the Jets (+300) and Dolphins (+350), with the New England Patriots (+900) a distant third.
Trading for Watson likely would cost the Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, multiple first-round picks and more. The Jets own the No. 2 and No. 23 picks in April’s draft. The odds-on favorite to acquire Watson initially was the Dolphins, who also own two first-round picks. Watson, 25, has leverage, though, as he would have to be willing to waive his no-trade clause to join another team.
Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline also believes Watson will wind up with the Jets — and not the Dolphins. “Speculation by league decision-makers at the Senior Bowl have smart money on the New York Jets.”
