Man found dead in car after being shot in Pembroke Pines intersection

- By Robin Webb and Chris Perkins

A 20- year- old man was shot by a fellow driver Monday night at an intersection in Pembroke Pines and died after crashing into a tree a few blocks later, and authorities said it wasn’t a random act of violence.

Pembroke Pines police said they responded to numerous 911 calls about the car- to- car shooting at 10: 47 p. m. at the intersection of Pines Boulevard and Douglas Road.

Police said the victim died at the crash scene in the 700 block of South Douglas Road due to gunshot wounds and not the crash. They think the shooting was intentional.

“What I can suggest based upon the investigation is that the suspect and the victim seemingly know one another, or are familiar with the same sets of acquaintances,” Pembroke Pines Capt. Adam Feiner said.

The victim’s family invoked Marsy’s Law, which means the victim’s name won’t be released.

At least six bullet holes were found on the passenger side of the victim’s car.

“Both of them were stopped at the time of the shooting,” Feiner said.

Police said the only thing known about the shooter’s car is it’s a sedan.

A third vehicle was hit by both the shooter’s vehicle and the victim’s vehicle, but police said no major damage was done.

The shooter’s car left the scene heading north on Douglas Road while the victim’s car went south on Douglas Road before crashing into a palm tree five or six blocks from the shooting.

There were at least four 911 calls about the incident, and all callers are cooperating.

“We do believe there were other witnesses,” Feiner said.
