New Year’s Day in South Florida: Here’s what’s open, closed
Here’s what will be open and closed in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties for New Year’s Day.
South Florida
State offices will be closed on Dec. 30, Dec. 31, and Jan. 1.
Federal offices and most banks will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
Post offices will have regular mail delivery Dec. 31 and there will be no regular mail delivery Jan. 1.
Stock Markets: NYSE and Nasdaq will be closed, and Bond Markets will close at 2 p.m. Dec. 31.

Broward County
For services in specific cities and towns, please contact the city office directly.
Government/Schools Public schools will be closed until Jan. 3, as well as most colleges and universities.
The 17th Judicial and Circuit and County Courts and the Administrative Office of the Courts will be closed Dec. 31.
All county offices will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
Services
Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed Dec. 31. The Adoption Center will be open Jan. 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the event of animal attack or bite, call 911. For lost or found cats or dogs, call 954-359-1313, ext. 9273.
The Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, will be open Dec. 31 and closed Jan. 1.
Florida Department of Health in Broward County will be closed Dec. 30, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
Regular garbage, bulk, or recycling collections will take place Jan. 1. Residents of all other Broward municipalities should contact their city or hauler directly for scheduling information.
Entertainment
The county library system will be closed Jan. 1.
Broward County neighborhood open-space parks, and natural areas will be open. Transportation
