Hospital visitation policies tightened in South Florida as variant spreads
As the new COVID variant leads to an increase in positive tests and more cases in South Florida, many local health care systems are updating protocols for visitors, etc. Here are the current policies at South Florida’s major hospitals. Call or check the websites below to verify requirements before visiting any rehabilitation center or health care facility.
Broward County
Broward Health: Level ‘yellow’ visitation policy in effect.
Limited visitation for non-COVID patients, one visitor at a time, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Virtual visits are encouraged. Guests are asked to arrive at the hospital wearing a face covering from home and to wear it for the entirety of the visit; those who arrive without a mask will be provided one. Cleveland Clinic Florida: ‘Orange-level’ guidelines in effect. Visitors will be screened and masks are required for all patients and visitors, even if vaccinated. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you can visit a patient 10 days after testing positive. If you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and are not fully vaccinated, you can visit a patient 14 days after exposure. Any veteran experiencing symptoms should call the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 877-741-3400, first before visiting a hospital or clinic. Visitors must follow infection-control guidelines for hand-washing hygiene that is required for entering and exiting patient rooms, and at other times as directed by staff.
