Disney World bringing back dining plan, changing park reservations

- By Dewayne Bevil

Walt Disney World will loosen up its park reservations policy again, add “good-to-go” days for annual passholders and reinstitute the Disney Dining Plan in 2024, the resort announced Monday.

Starting next year, Disney World’s annual passholders and its employees will be privy to a set of “goodto-go” days, meaning no reservations will be required on those dates for select theme parks. These will be in addition to the recently instituted ability for passholders to go to parks after 2 p.m. without reservations on most days.

No dates for the “good-to-go” days were announced Monday, and more will be added beyond the first batch eventually revealed, Disney said. Park reservations will continue to be required for passholders on days that are not in the “good-to-go” pool.

In addition, customers who buy date-specific tickets will no longer have to make theme park reservations after Jan. 9.

The Disney Dining Plan, absent from the resort since the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown of 2020, will return for bookings made May 31 and later for stays that start on Jan. 9 and thereafter. The plan, along with the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan, is an add-on for visitors who buy Walt Disney World vacation packages. The plans include prepaid meals and snacks in the parks and resorts.

Specific restaurants that will be participating were not announced Monday.

In other news shared via the official Disney Parks Blog, the company said it will continue early theme park entry for Disney hotel guests through 2024 as well as the extended evening hours at the parks for people staying in its deluxe resorts. The later hours are held on select dates for select parks.

The blog post also said Disney was looking into allowing visitors to use the Genie+ planning service and make individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of theme park visits. It did not give details.

“We are working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024,” the post says. “Our goal is to give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family.”
